About the Author
L. Pate Jackson, or Larry to family and friends, was born in Atlanta,
Georgia. He moved to Jacksonville, Florida when he was in the second
grade and stayed there through the ninth grade. These were indeed
"happy days," and the memories of them were the basis of Ripples on
the St. John's. After returning to Atlanta, he entered The Georgia
Institute of Technology in the fall of 1956, where he was in the Naval
ROTC program. Upon graduation in 1960, Ensign Jackson was
assigned to the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt CVA-42.
The bulk of his working life has involved construction, residential and
commercial. He has been a speculative builder, a custom-home builder,
and for the past twenty years, an owner of rental property. Hobbies
include piano playing, golf, and history, in general, but with special
interest in American presidents.
Larry met Laura Warlick late in 1970. After dating for three months
they decided to marry. They did so in June, 1971. They have two
grown sons.
